Bio

I first started lifting after graduating high school.  At 6' tall, I weighed 140 lbs, soaking wet.  At first, I was interested in bodybuilding.  But, after experiencing what a bodybuilding show was like, I quickly realized that getting greased up in a banana hammock wasn't my style.  I got into strongman after graduating from junior college.  I continued my college education at Rochester Institute of Technology in 2007.  There, I joined up with the RIT Weightlifting club.  At the time, Steve Trippe was the president of the club and they focused on competing in and training for powerlifting and strongman.  He encouraged me to pursue both strongman and powerlifting.  I enjoyed both with what little exposure I had, so I did.

I competed in mostly powerlifting while in college and after graduating.  My first powerlifting meet was in November 2007 when I totaled a whopping 925 lbs at 181 lb via a 275 lb squat, 245 lb bench, and 405 lb deadlift.  We held a couple of unsanctioned strongman shows at school, which was my first taste of strongman competition.  I remained focused on powerlifting while doing small strongman shows here and there.  I didn't fully commit myself to strongman until 2013.  By that time I'd had enough of the suits, shirts, and getting out of breath whenever I bent over to tie my shoes or walk up a flight of stairs.  I wanted to be strong, healthy, and be able to MOVE.  Plus, strongman is SO much more fun!

Since 2013, my fitness endeavors have been focused solely on strongman.  I've set quite a few goals for myself, many I've achieved, some I'm still in the pursuit of.  I tend to keep specific goals to myself, but broadly, I intend to be incredibly strong, healthy, happy, and achieve a balance of all things in my life.  I train for and compete in strongman for no other reason that I believe it helps me achieve that balance in life and I just simply love to do it.
