Bio
My initial exposure to strongman was with Brandon Ballance at MCCF as he trained for 2016 NC Strongest. I was still rehabbing my back and hips from SI Joint Dysfunction, several lumbar strains and shoulder impingement acquired from power lifting. I wanted to try strongman for functional training/rehab. But, following an injury to Brandon's back, he transferred his entry to me and I decided to start training seriously and compete at the 2016 NC Strongest for my first competition! Under the watchful eye of Lynn Morehouse I began training for strongman at MCCF. Concurrently James Deffinbaugh began building Spider Strength Gym and took me on as his strongman apprentice. Although my initial progress was slow, as I developed necessary technique with implements and continued rehabbing from injuries my progression began to accelerate. Since starting strongman in 2016 I have added a considerable amount of muscle, lost over 5% body fat, improved my health and continue to get stronger while remaining pain free! My short term goals are to take 1st place in "local" competitions to qualify for both USS and SMC nationals and increase my placings from the previous year. My long term goals in strongman are to achieve "Pro" status in SMC and compete in international competitions. After the past couple years in strongman, I have developed a true love for the sport and continue to try and grow the sport by bringing in new athletes, supporting other athletes both in training and competition, and assist in promoting and running strongman competitions in the NC area.
