It’s been quite some time since I’ve posted anything regarding my training, or anything at all for that matter. But lately I’ve had the urge to share again, so maybe I will add a weekly post or two about how training is progressing.
Right now, I don’t have any competitions planned. Finances are the primary reason, so what better time to bring up my strength and work on weaknesses? I’m hoping to get a show in early next year, but we’ll see how things pan out. Lately, I’ve really been working on my deadlift technique and continually working to bring my pressing strength up. Events have been going pretty well, but these are going to take a back seat for a little while. Really, I’m just doing what my coach tells me to do. Here are a couple videos of training from the past couple days.
If there’s one thing I learned as an adolescent, it’s how to ghetto rig stuff. This was the most ghetto-rigged band set-up ever. I used some strong short bands for these pulls and had to anchor them with 155 lb dumbbells (plus some 2.5lb plates and duct tape) since I lack a proper band set up at the moment. I actually did a rough measurement of the band tension at the top. They pulled 115 lb dumbbells off the floor at the top. I figured ~220 lb of total tension was a conservative estimate. Speed was good on a lot of these sets but I am always working to keep my back flat. I’ve been doing a lot better with it, but it continues to be a work-in-progress.
This was my last set of 5 for the day with 285lb. Felt good and moved easy. I think my pressing is coming along nicely but I still tend to press out in front of me sometimes which I still need to work on. I’ll probably shoot for 300×5 for 4 sets next week.
Off to do cardio and eat cake.
